What we do:
TMD ("Temporomandibular Disorders")
As a Board-certified orofacial pain specialist, Dr. Donlon will perform a thorough history taking and clinical examination to determine the source of your pain. Sometimes, 3-D imaging may be indicated. There are many different types of TMD, which stands for temporomandibular disorder. This includes TMJ pain and muscle pain in the head and neck.Treatment may include the fabrication of a stabilization appliance or injections. Collaborating with other specialists like physical therapists, nutritionists, and your general dentist may also be recommended.Dr. Donlon's ultimate goal is to provide caring, individualized treatment tailored to you.
Dental Sleep Medicine
Do you snore? Or, have you been diagnosed with OSA ("obstructive sleep apnea")? Did you try CPAP but hated it or need something to more easily travel with?Dr. Donlon can make you a mouth device called an MAD ("mandibular advancement device") to treat your snoring and/or sleep apnea. This treatment is called oral appliance therapy. With oral appliance therapy, you don't have to worry about difficult cleaning of CPAP hoses, disturbing your bed partner with loud machines, or taking up too much room in your suitcase for your trip to Europe! Dr. Donlon will help you in selecting the best custom-fabricated appliance design for you and works with a sleep medicine physician to ensure your appliance is effective.
Headaches & Migraines
As someone who suffers from migraines herself, Dr. Donlon has a passion for helping others who also suffer from headaches and migraines. She understands that migraines are more than just a bad headache.Treatment begins with a thorough understanding of how your headache presents: Where is it located? How long do they last? Do you get nauseous? These details are important in making the proper diagnosis so treatment can be tailored to you.Treatment recommendations may include specialized imaging, medications, injections, and/or Botox. Dr. Donlon also believes in interdisciplinary care and works with other providers such as physical therapists, neurologists, and dietitians to provide you the best, most comprehensive care.
Nerve pain
Nerve pain, also known as neuropathic pain, can be a debilitating and distressing condition, especially when it affects the orofacial region.Sometimes neuropathic pain can present like a toothache. Do you feel like there is something wrong with your tooth, but x-rays and even specialized 3-D imaging shows the tooth is perfectly fine? Dr. Donlon's goal is to identify the underlying cause of your pain and the true source of your pain.Together, she will create a personalized treatment plan that may include specialized imaging, medication management, physical therapy, and lifestyle modifications.
Botulinum Toxin
We also provide botulinum toxin injections, often known as "Botox" or "Xeomin".Dr. Donlon is well-versed in the detail and intricacies of the face muscles. When injected into the muscles, Botox/Xeomin encourages the muscles to relax. The effects are not immediate and take about 2 weeks to see and feel the full effects. Botox/Xeomin is often recommended alongside other modalities tailored to you, as the effects often "wear off" between 10-16 weeks.
Digital Impressions
We are a digital office and instead of goopy, messy impressions, we use a state-of-the-art digital scanner. This results in
No mess
Faster turnaround times
More accuracy
